For the first time in a worldwide scale, an innovative concept in the field of urban air conditioning was applied to Hydra Island utilizing sea water.
The innovation lies in the fact that the water-cooled heat pumps that have been installed in several local consumers, are cooled by a central underground sea water piping network. Using the year round stable sea water temperature, the heat pumps operate steadily with high performance, consuming 45% less electricity than the conventional units.
This project was financed by the European Commission and the Greek Ministry of Development, due to its innovation, its great energy savings, its environmental friendly character and its potential for serving coastal areas.
PV Systems using top quality equipment and with the proper design & installation, conclude in small payback time and the desired results.
